Ángel Padrón (Tenerife, 1969) holds a degree in Fine Arts from the ULL, specializing in painting (1988-1994). His work has been exhibited in several exhibitions in the Canary Islands, especially in group exhibitions that have proposed an approach to the poetics of the insular landscape, as is the case of La Isla Taller (1999), which takes up some verses of the Gran Canarian poet Manuel Padorno as a representative motto of the artist who thinks about the territory in which he lives and from which he develops his work. Ángel Padrón’s paintings are often formulated as constructed landscapes in which human intervention and Nature’s creation are confused. Padrón is one of the outstanding figures of the insular pictorial panorama, with about twenty individual exhibitions and as many collective ones. His work can be found in Desde la Reserva (River Deep, Mountain High), held in 1995 at the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, as well as in the Rafael Ortiz Galleries, Seville, and in the Berini Gallery, Barcelona, in 1997 and 1998, respectively. Among many other collective exhibitions, he has exhibited in Presquel l’azar (TEA – Instituto Cervantes de Casablanca and Agadir, 2015); as well as in the exhibition Las formas de habitar. Architectures after architecture without architects, held in 2019 in the context of the tenth Lanzarote Art Biennial. Ángel Padrón’s career is linked to the Artizar Art Gallery (La Laguna, Tenerife), a space where he has presented at least four solo exhibitions, including Interperie (2014-2015). His work is part of the public collections of several ate centers in Spain: TEA, CAAM, Cajacanarias Foundation, Government of the Canary Islands, among others.
