ALEJANDRO CORREA
TENERIFE, 1984
Throughout his creative evolution, Alejandro Correa has distanced himself from the stage. From the sombre characters surrounded by asphyxiating invisible walls, reality itself takes a step back to take a breath of air and perspective, allowing the outsider observer to enjoy a natural and convoluted sensuality. From the person and its edges, to the undulating beauty of its surroundings. From the complex voluptuousness to the temperate infinity of reflective horizons.
In his strokes are hidden personal stories impregnated with nostalgia, richness and gloom. Pieces that serve as an anchor for the soul and at the same time command us to look away suddenly, like the elusive movement of a shadow in a nineteenth-century alley.
Because each painting by Alejandro Correa is the result of an intimate and sincere communication between the work and the artist; a sober and restrained conversation that exudes a romanticism typical of past times, very much in keeping with the genius of the painter, whose creative process masks a spontaneous coherence and an almost visceral authenticity. Beyond that there is only the naturalness of someone who has never intended anything other than to willingly give up part of his soul.
His incipient career already includes institutional exhibitions at the Cabrera Pinto Museum in Tenerife, Espacio Arte Contemporáneo in Havana or individual exhibitions such as the one held at the Stunt Gallery (2013), those held at the Artizar Gallery in 2016, 2019 and 2022 or the one held for the SAC (Sala de Arte Contemporáneo del Gobierno de Canarias), as well as Contemporary Art Fairs such as Estampa or Artesantander.
